In the oil community, everyone’s favorite phrase is “There’s an oil for that!” It’s everyone’s favorite phrase because it is so. totally. true. There are oil blends to support every single system of your body, it’s just a matter of knowing which oil to use and how to use it. One of the best things about my Young Living Team is that we are very knowledge based. We really want people to get the most out of their oils, so education is a big part of adding new members to the team! I thought this post would be a good start to breaking down our starter kit and showing everyone all of the awesome things that can be done with it!
I’ll go more in depth with each oil and their individual benefits later but in the interest of keeping this relatively short, I’m going to break the information down into multiple blog posts. So stick with me through the basics today. It’ll all make sense later, I promise! First, let’s talk about the 3 ways you can use essential oils.
- Aromatically: This is the method that most people already know about. This is done by adding water and a few drops of oil into the diffuser or even putting a few drops on your hands and breathing it in. A few of the many benefits of using oils aromatically include supporting your respiratory system, purifying the air in your home, and adjusting your mood. Plus they all smell delicious, and who doesn’t want their home to smell great?
- Topically: Oils can also be put directly on the skin to support wellness. Depending on your skin sensitivity oils can be put on either mixed with a carrier oil (for example mixing a few drops with coconut oil, almond oil, or olive oil) or undiluted straight from the bottle. They can be applied pretty much anywhere (depending on what you’re looking to support) but some of the most common places are the bottom of the feet, ears, stomach, and neck.
- Internally: Ingesting oils is another great way to reap the benefits of your essential oils. You can add a few drops of oil into your water, food, or even directly on your tongue. It actually is a bit of a controversial method, with some people being totally in support of it and others saying they wouldn’t do it. I ingest my oils all the time and think that it is a wonderful method to support your wellness. With that said, using oils that are 100% pure is so important so that you know exactly what is going into your body (See my Facebook live video on YL’s purity promise here). If you choose to use this method, just educate yourself on which oils are edible before jumping right in. Water with a few drops of lemon oil in it is yummy. Water with the Panaway blend (made to be rubbed on muscles) would taste disgusting and probably make you feel pretty gross too.
